The short answer

Open your Profile, tap Edit profile, then tap Add next to Links and follow the steps to paste your website. TikTok shows this option to accounts with at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. The link opens in TikTok's in-app browser, so point it at a page built for phones, such as a link in bio page.

On TikTok, the link in your profile is the one place where a viewer can leave the app and go to your shop, your newsletter or your booking page. Here's who gets it, how to add it, how to get it before you reach 1,000 followers, and how to make people actually tap it.

According to TikTok's help center, you can add a website link to your profile if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Accounts below 1,000 followers that aren't verified businesses don't see the option.

"Verified" here means TikTok's business verification, where a company submits its documents. It isn't the blue check, which TikTok gives to prominent people and brands.

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Next to Links, tap Add.
  4. Follow the steps to add your website, then save.

Two rules to know before you paste anything:

  • TikTok no longer supports links that open or log people into other social media apps. You can still link to the websites of those platforms.
  • Links open in TikTok's in-app browser. TikTok also limits how far people can browse chains of external links inside that browser, so when someone taps from the page you linked to yet another site, TikTok may suggest opening it in the phone's own browser. TikTok's advice is to use direct links that get people where they're going in a few steps.

If you run a business, verify it:

  1. On your profile, open the menu in the top corner and go to Settings and privacy → Account → Business verification.
  2. Accept the terms and tap Get started.
  3. Choose the country or region where the business operates.
  4. Upload a business document and enter the legal business name and registration number exactly as they appear on it.
  5. Confirm your identity by SMS or voice call, then submit.

TikTok says the review usually takes one to five business days, and business verification is only available to people aged 18 or over.

If you're a creator without a registered business, the way in is the 1,000-follower mark. Until then, use your 80-character bio to tell people where to find you, with a short, memorable address they can type, and mention it in your videos.

You get one link, so it has to cover everything a viewer might want. You have two good options:

  • A direct link to the one thing you push most: a product, a booking page or a signup form. This is the shortest path, and it's what TikTok recommends.
  • A link in bio page if you have several things to share: your latest video or post, a product, your other profiles, a contact form. Put the thing you mention most in your videos at the top, so most visitors only need one more tap.

Stick, the link in bio builder our team makes, is free and built for this: a page you design block by block on your phone, with a Digital Product block that sells files through Stripe with no Stick fee. If customers would rather message you, mssg.me puts WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and Messenger buttons on one page.

Write a bio that earns the tap

TikTok bios can't be longer than 80 characters, so every word counts:

  • Say what you do or make: "Daily 30-second home workouts".
  • Give a reason to tap: "Free 4-week plan ↓".
  • Skip filler such as "link in bio" with no reason attached.

For a styled name or a single accent word, Stick's free TikTok fonts tool previews letter styles you can copy. Use them sparingly: plain text is easier to read and to find.

Links in TikTok captions and comments aren't clickable, so the profile link only works if people know it's there and why they should tap it:

  • Mention it with a specific reason: "The full recipe is the first link on my profile."
  • Pin a comment that says where to find it under your most viewed videos.
  • Put the same offer in your bio and on the page, so people who tap find exactly what you promised.

Measure what gets tapped

Once the link is live, watch two things: how many people visit your page and which links on it they tap. Stick shows views and clicks for every link on its free plan, so you can move the winners to the top and remove what nobody uses.

  • No Links option in Edit profile: you have fewer than 1,000 followers and no Verified Business Account. Verify your business or keep growing.
  • The link won't save: check that it's a normal web address (https://…) and not a link that opens another social app.
  • People see a prompt to open the page in their browser: that's TikTok's safety measure for chains of external links. Link straight to the most important page, or keep the most important link at the top of your link in bio page.
