How to add a link to your Instagram bio (2026)

Add up to five links to your Instagram bio, choose which one shows first, add Story link stickers, and know when a link in bio page or Meta One makes sense.

The short answer

Open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link (in some app versions it's Add link). Paste the URL, give it a title and tap Done. Every account can add up to five links; the first one shows in your bio and the others appear after a tap. With a Meta One creator or business plan, your links become a link page with up to 20 links and images.

Instagram used to allow a single link in your profile. Today you get five for free, a separate slot for your Facebook profile, link stickers in Stories, and, if you pay for Meta One, a page of up to 20 links. Here's how each one works and which to use.

In the Instagram app:

  1. Go to your profile and tap Edit profile.
  2. Tap Links.
  3. Tap Add external link (or Add link, depending on your app version).
  4. Paste the web address and type a short title, such as "Shop" or "Book a call".
  5. Tap Done, then save your profile.

The link appears under your bio right away, and your followers aren't notified. Any account can do this: personal, creator or business.

Typing a URL into the bio text itself doesn't work: it isn't clickable there. Always add links through Links.

You can add up to five links by repeating the steps. Only the first link is shown in your bio, followed by "and 4 others"; visitors see the rest after tapping it. On the Links screen you can drag them into the order you want.

That makes the first position the one that matters. Put the link you want most people to tap there, and change it when you launch something new.

Add your Facebook profile

Instagram has a separate slot for linking your Facebook profile or Page, which doesn't count toward the five. You'll find it under Edit profile too. It's useful if Facebook is where customers check your reviews or opening hours.

Any account can add a link sticker to a Story: create the Story, tap the sticker icon, choose Link, paste the URL and place the sticker. Every Story that mentions a product, an offer or an article should carry one, pointing straight at that page. Save the best ones to a Highlight so new visitors find them.

Links in post captions and comments aren't clickable, which is why "link in bio" became a phrase. Hashtags and @mentions in your bio are clickable, though.

Use the five native links if you have a few destinations and nothing to sell. Use a link in bio page if you want to show more than five things, add context and prices, sell, or see which links get tapped. Put the page as your first Instagram link. Meta One makes sense if you want its other perks too; we compared it in detail in Meta One's Instagram link page.

Stick, the link in bio builder our team makes, is free: a page you style block by block, with a Digital Product block that sells files without a Stick fee, and views and clicks for every link. If your customers prefer to message you, mssg.me puts WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber and Messenger buttons next to your links.

Your bio has 150 characters. End it with a reason to tap: "New presets every Friday ↓" works better than "Link below". Stick's free Instagram character counter shows how your bio wraps, and the line break generator keeps your spacing.

Then point people to the link from your content. Our guides to getting more clicks on your link in bio and what a converting Instagram profile looks like go further.

If something doesn't work

  • The link isn't clickable: it was typed into the bio text. Remove it and add it under Links.
  • A page opens strangely or asks you to log in again: links open in Instagram's in-app browser. From the browser's menu (⋯), choose to open the page in your phone's browser.
  • You can't add a sixth link: five is the limit without Meta One. Replace one, or use a link in bio page as your first link.
